If you are a person who needs a lot of mobility or just want a small notebook, the X61s makes a compelling argument. For scrolling, the TrackPoint has no peer. As you can see whites fair better at an angle. In terms of specs the X61 Tablet is much like the X61s, but of course weighs more and is larger due to the extra Tablet PC functionality.
The right side was fairly warm to the touch, and when I took the laptop apart to find the cause of the heat, I found that both x61ss WiFi and WWAN cards were directly under this area. Some convertibles are also represented with that size. Lenovo unveils its thinnest and lightest professional notebook. I always setup the red knob on my ThinkPads to scroll. The right palm rest, which I think is where the WiFi card is located, and the underside of speds notebook, were the warmest areas. It made my R60 seem like an anvil.
Performance once inside Windows was good. Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. With the UltraBase, Lenovo has you covered. The keyboards on smaller notebooks are often a problem area, not soecs on the X61s.
Otherwise, this ultraportable has all the features road warriors need. When I get my next notebook, I might go with something smaller like this X The outside case is very strong giving it a good deal of protection when thrown into a briefcase or maybe even a tall purse.
Like its larger brothers of the ThinkPad line, it shares all of the same rugged features, as well as the creature comforts of a full-size keyboard. The X61s seems to me to offer the best of both worlds.
