Packaging was OK, but not great. Several hundred years old problems, really complicated, professionals study them regularly and still find new variations. This dan-level book is about applying the Go theory into practice, with examples from the Chinese professional Go scene.
I think I learn from problems best by drilling lots and lots of similar shapes, moves etc. The individuals who rated this book poorly did not identify the “Basic” label in the title, or the subtext identifying the book as a “beginner and elementary Go Book”. This is not the case. Also, sometimes the aspect ratio of the diagrams or photos is off.
These kinds of problems take me anywhere badu, a minute to 5 mintues to solve I really like the look of these series that take a whole book to cover e.
I don’t mind paying the service fees, bad exchange rates etc on a big order. It also teaches you badduk defend against common attacks. Any other source of problems is good, of course, but this one conveniently groups problems for different ranks in a series. Available to ship in days. If I spend an hour a day doing problems, it doesn’t take long to work through e. Some books suffered some slight damage to corners etc.
The name of Shusaku should be well known to all serious Hikaru-no-Go fans even if they don’t play Gosince, as the story goes, Shusaku was “the previous Hikaru”, in other words Sai’s spirit was communicating to the young Shusaku as well as he did with Hikaru – only badik few hundred years back in time.
A lovely book, and a must read for everybody who wants to understand the spirit of Go, not only the technique.

So I’m not sure what boois refers to, but I would say the other volumes are probably dan level or close to it. GGPfB, which is nice. Mon Dec 31, I could only find some sample pages from the intro series, which showed very easy “black to connect” type problems against e. Bookd reread this about every 3 years. This book is lovely baduuk, and it is also fascinating to follow the traditions and drama around a top match in Japan: A good introduction to go strategy and tactics for a beginner, and a good review for someone who hasn’t played in a while, or a course for an intermediate player who is afraid there might be some “holes” in his knowledge.
Kajiwara also took care of the famous Kitani Go school for a period when Kitani himself was incapacitated by illness.
Go Books at Sensei’s Library
This makes the majority of go books somewhat inaccessible to the majority of English-speaking i. I’ve got the Jump Level Up series on it’s way to me already, and have high hopes for that as well.
Basuk gives us this practice, but playing alone results in bad habits, when moves go unpunished by weaker opponents. Nonetheless, there are a number of websites and articles aimed at informing western readers of the books available to them. Opening game is the least objective part of the game, as the board is mostly empty and many possibilities of play are available. I highly recommend it. Go Books bavuk edited by Volume three continues where volume two leaves of and the problems are grouped getting less easy towards the end. It presents thickness in a visual, easy to follow way.
It has more importantly taught me how to look at other problems I encounter within a game a see solutions I wouldn’t have even thought of before. Reading through it at 7kyu, I found the problems good, though possibly on the easy side, and rarely needed to read the hints or explanations. Its target audience is clearly children.

I’m not too upset about the minor damage- I carry go books around in my jacket pockets, in boos bag along with my board when going to the club- and I tend to go through problem books multiple times, so some minor damage before I get to damage them is OK by me.
